Valley Vets employ a team of ten veterinary surgeons across our four sites, supported by a team of registered veterinary nurses, trainee veterinary nurses, animal care assistants, reception staff and administrative staff. Our aim is always to provide the best possible professional care for your pets.

History

Valley Vets was first established in Ystrad Mynach, Rhymney Valley in the 1940’s, expanding to Caerphilly in the 1960’s and then to Cardiff in the 1980’s. The Practice initially undertook almost entirely farm animal and horse work, but over the decades pet dog and cat work markedly increased, so much so that in the 1990’s we decided to concentrate entirely on working with companion animals.  At about the same time, Valley Vets started to provide the first veterinary clinic in Wales for exotic pets, based at our Cardiff branch.

Also in the 1990’s, Valley Vets opened the first twenty-four hour emergency veterinary service in the UK. This provided round the clock surgical and medical attention to patients and clients of several local veterinary practices. This service has grown considerably in the past ten years and in 2004 a second emergency clinic was established at our new Ystrad Mynach building.

The Veterinary Emergency Treatment Service has now grown to the point where it has become an entirely separate company. V.E.T.S. Ltd. has separate directorship and staff, but shares our buildings and equipment in both Cardiff and Ystrad Mynach. The two companies have a close working relationship and our clients and patients benefit tremendously from this with two out of our three branches having staff not only on-site, but working to provide top quality veterinary care, 24 hrs per day, 365 days per year.

In 2010, Valley Vets aquired a fourth practice in Pentyrch.
