Ivy's Story ...

Hello everyone, my name is Ivy and I'd like to tell you my story.

One morning I woke up and didn't feel myself. I didn't feel like eating and usually I love playing with my sister, Eve, but I just couldn't muster the energy.

When my human mum realised that I wasn't 100% she took me straight to the vets in Ystrad Mynach. It's a good job she's a student veterinary nurse and know the team there well!

The vet, Lorna, examined me and when they touched my bladder it hurt and I accidentally peed myself! Oooppss!!

Oddly, the vet was very happy I did pee myself. They examined my wee and found blood!!!!!. Next they did an ultrasound scan of my belly to look at my bladder. I was scared but "mum" told me it was going to be OK and Lorna gave me some nice drugs to make me feel better.

They said my bladder had a blood clot in it and that the bladder wall was thickened. I had some medication to go home with (antibiotics and some pain relief). Over the next few days I felt a lot better but there was still something not quite right and I still had some blood in my wee.

I had to go back to the vets again and this time I had an X-ray under a general anaesthetic. This showed I actually had a "stone" in my urethra (apparently, that's the tube that takes urine from the bladder to the outside world). Ouch!!!

Thankfully, Lorna managed to remove the stone with only a tiny incision and I have felt tip top since! I am soooooooo grateful!!!

I am back to running around with Eve, eating grass and purring when I get my back scratched.

Thank you Valley Vets xxx
