Our February Brave Pet Award goes to....Sam!

Sam is a Cretan hound, who was rescued from Crete when he was just five weeks old. He was found dodging traffic in heavy rain during a thunder storm. He had been separated from his litter when he was too young and was very malnourished and full of fleas. However, after being treated by a vet in Crete he recovered well.

After lots of TLC and training he turned out to be a fantastic dog. Sam's owners thought about Greek names to call him, Costas, Stefanon, Spiros and Vangelis, but in the end settled on Sam!

Recently, Sam has had to undergo not one, but two major surgical procedures. He managed to rupture his cruciate ligaments in both of his knee joints, within a short space of time.

The surgeries were a success and he is now having laser treatment and rehabilitation exercises to help with his recovery.

Sam's owner told us;

'He loves other dogs and is missing his walks on the Taff Trail but hopefully we can resume them in a month or so. He has been through a lot recently with Rob carrying out the TTA procedures on both of his back legs. He is doing fine, recovering well'
