Well Done Will! Our Brave Pet for July!

Our Brave Pet for July is Will!!

Will has been a regular visitor to see Gordon and Laura at our Caerphilly surgery since his first puppy vaccinations way back in 2005 and has always been a pleasure to see.

Will started to develop arthritis problems early in life, when he was only 6 yrs old. Unfortunately, these became a lot more serious last year. Initially, his arthritic pain was well controlled using a combination of pain killers and anti-inflammatory medications, as well as laser therapy. Will was also seeing Nichi for rehabilitation exercises .

At the end of last year, Will started having a lot of problems with his left ankle joint and was referred to the orthopaedic specialists at the University of Bristol Veterinary Hospital. During his time at Bristol, Will had X-rays, CAT scans and major surgery to fuse his ankle joint together and eliminate the pain from that joint.

Despite having to stay in the Bristol hospital for several days, damaging his teeth (which then required several to be extracted) and developing a narrowing of his oesophagus, which caused him problems swallowing, Will never stopped wagging that tail.

He still receives on-going medication, laser therapy and rehabilitation treatment. Will very bravely got through a very tough six months, thanks in no small part to a lot of loving care from his mum and dad. He still loves visiting us with his sister, Rosie.

He has been a real trooper and well deserves his Brave Pet of the Month Award.
