About the Team

Our caring teams at Valley Vets have been serving the pets of South Wales since the 1940’s, (a good proportion of the current team have been with us between 10 and 30 years!) We’re immensely proud of their impressive team ethic and skill set, and most importantly how everyone strives to meet and achieve the values of the practice. We believe that if we can all look after each other, then the highest levels of patient and client care can follow!

Don’t just take our word for it, here’s what our team had to say:

“I have been a member of the Valley Team for over 8 years. A lot has changed in that time but I have been fortunate to be surrounded by a supportive team and been given the opportunity to pursue my interests and gain a post-graduate certificate in small animal dentistry”
(Tracy Chavez- Pino, Senior Veterinary Surgeon, Cardiff branch)

“Valley Vets is like my extended family, they have supported and nurtured me throughout my whole career and I will be forever grateful for this.”
(Claire Ashworth – RVN, Hospital Manager)

About the Practice

Valley Vets is lucky to be situated in an extremely diverse area. South Wales and in particular, Cardiff and its surroundings, really are something very special. Within easy commuting distance of all of our practices, you can be living in the vibrant city centre of Cardiff, surround yourself with nature and tranquillity in the coastal towns of the Vale of Glamorgan, or the mountains of the Valleys and Brecon Beacons National Park.

The Cardiff branch is our largest first opinion clinic which is fully equipped and self-sufficient, with 3 full time vets working from the branch. The team have access to all the standard equipment such as digital x-ray, dental x-ray, full in house lab, dedicated theatre, dedicated dental room, ultrasound, multi-parameter anaesthetic monitor, oxygen generator and more. The RVN team is supported by an experienced reception team as well as SVNs/ACAs. The workload is far from a vaccine clinic- but varied and stimulating.

The branch is fully supported by our hospital, which is a multi-disciplinary centre and we actively encourage collaboration between our referral and first opinion/ECC teams. The site offers all the ‘mod cons’ you would expect, and provides an excellent platform for our team to be able to work cases up fully and pursue their personal clinical interests. Facilities include:

  • 24/7 inpatient care
  • CT Scanner
  • Advanced Ultrasonography
  • Endosurgery facilities
  • Extensive blood analysis equipment- including TEG, blood gases etc
  • Dedicated orthopaedic, soft tissue and exotic theatres
  • Dedicated ECC wards
  • Dental suite
  • In-house Hydrotherapy service
  • In-house Physiotherapy service

Additional Benefits

  • Minimum 6 weeks holiday – additional options to buy and sell
  • Sick pay of 2 weeks full pay and 4 weeks half pay
  • 3 paid days CPD, with a budget of £600
  • VDS and RCVS fees paid, as well as one additional professional subscription e.g. BVNA
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity cover
  • Health Shield Employment Benefit Scheme for mental and physical health benefits as well as other perks!
  • Health Insurance via Group Payroll Deduct
  • Life Insurance at 1 x Annual Salary
